Danny Michel and Steve Poltz: These two charming, dynamic and comedic Canadian singer-songwriters return to the stage in tandem after a successful 2023 buddy-boy tour.
Described hilariously in his bio as a mix between Robin Williams and James Taylor, Poltz wrote Jewel’s 1995 hit You Were Meant for Me, releasing a dozen albums in the Americana vein and playing more than 1,000 shows in the meantime. He is great.

Multi-Juno nominee folk singer Michel is a dedicated environmentalist who played Jane Goodall’s 85th birthday and recorded a whole album during an 18-day residency aboard a rugged Soviet-era Russian icebreaker. Do check out his sci-fi-friendly Dan’s Space Van channel on YouTube.
This’ll be a fun and lovely gathering, guaranteed.

Open Eyes: But if you’re looking for something a little more smashy and up on your feet, melodramatic hardcore power trio Open Eyes headlines a sweet lineup over at Dive Bar with their just-born album Illuminated, featuring the killer guitar-anthem Defender.
Also on the power bill are Saskatoon’s The No Goes, Quit It! and the absolutely must-see Midnight Peg in a night of leather, patch-covered denim, and most certainly shots.

Wickediator II: On the heels of preposterous cinematic pair-ups like Furriosa (Garfield the Movie and Mad Max V) and the much more famous Oppenbarbie/Barbieheimer comes another box-office tête-à-tête that has one asking, “But why choose when you can do both in one go?”
This, and I believe this is the correct order, means it’s Jon M. Chu’s screen adaptation of the musical version of the Wizard of Oz revisionist novel Wicked followed by Ridley Scott dipping his sword into the ol’ Gladiator pool again, the sequel starring dead Maximus’ armour among a mostly-new all-star cast a generation later.
I’m for sure doing it — join in on five-plus hours of (fingers crossed) fun!
