Two Edmonton-based pizza companies will be doling out pies to help ease disappointed fans’ hearts and stomachs.
On the eve of the Stanley Cup Final, Edmonton-founded Boston Pizza promised Oilers fans 30,000 free pizzas if the Oilers won the cup.
After a tough loss in Game 7, the pizza pledge seemed to have been off the table, but Boston Pizza has decided otherwise.

The pies were supposed to be handed out at the victory parade, but without a Stanley Cup, the franchise had to improvise. On Wednesday, a Boston Pizza truck loaded with coupons for free small pizzas toured the city to satiate hungry fans.
But the slices didn’t stop there, as the “official pizza of the Edmonton Oilers” also wanted to help grieving fans. Pizza 73 got in on the fan service, saying it would be giving out free pizzas with purchase on Thursday. The pizzeria said in a press release the free dough was a thank you to Edmonton’s fans for “cheering all season” and to cap off an “amazing hockey season.”
So, while fans may still be stung from the loss, they can soothe their sorry hearts and bellies with two days’ worth of free pizza.
