A 15-year-old Breton boy was charged after he stole a yellow Mustang and drove dangerously through central Alberta on Saturday, according to RCMP.
On Aug. 3 after 6:30 p.m., Mounties received simultaneous reports about someone stealing a Mustang in Breton and a dangerous driver in Drayton Valley.
“We were receiving pretty constant updates from members of the public about the driving behaviour that they were seeing,” Cpl. Troy Savinkoff told Postmedia on Sunday.

Police said they quickly found the vehicle, but it didn’t stop for officers and kept driving dangerously.
“It’s a yellow Mustang in a small town, so I believe (officers) were able to see it in a more strategically optimal position at some point,” Savinkoff said, adding officers eventually arrested the boy without a pursuit.
A teenager stealing a car doesn’t happen often, Savinkoff said.
“The most common reason why we get motor vehicles stolen is because it’s an opportunistic vehicle that criminals are utilizing to engage in crime and oftentimes will use it for a few days and dump it,” he said.
“In this particular case, it doesn’t appear there was any motivation for stealing the vehicle other than engaging in reckless activity.”
RCMP charged the teenager with flight from police, dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle, Savinkoff said.
Drayton Valley is about 140 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
Breton is roughly 50 kilometres southeast of Drayton.
